Positive Behaviour Support

Positive Behaviour Support

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a person-centred, evidence-based approach that helps individuals understand and manage behaviours of concern in a safe and respectful way. Designed to improve quality of life, PBS focuses on developing practical strategies that address the underlying reasons for challenging behaviour—rather than just managing the behaviour itself.

This service is especially beneficial for individuals with autism, intellectual disability, psychosocial conditions, and other complex needs. By identifying triggers and building personalised plans, PBS empowers participants to develop new skills, enhance communication, and participate more actively in daily life.

Positive Behaviour Support includes, but is not limited to:

  • Functional Behaviour Assessment (FBA);
  • Development of person-centred behaviour support plans;
  • Skill-building to replace behaviours of concern;
  • Training and guidance for families and support staff;
  • Strategies to reduce restrictive practices; and
  • Ongoing plan review and positive outcome tracking.

As a registered NDIS provider in Melbourne, Lifespan Healthcare Services is committed to delivering respectful, ethical, and empowering PBS support. Our experienced team collaborates closely with participants, families, and carers to ensure strategies are consistent, practical, and aligned with each person’s unique NDIS goals.
